Ten members of band arrested in Armenia - NSS

National Security Service reported about revealing a band in Nork Marash district in Yerevan that was going to commit a number of grave crimes in Armenia. The band was headed by an Arthur Vardanyan, a former resident of Yerevan who now permanently resides abroad.

According to a press release by the NSS, Vardanyan recently returned to Armenia to create and lead the band and acquire a large quantity of arms and arm supplies which were later found hidden in a private house rent specially for that purpose.

The police conducted a search on Wednesday morning revealing automatic machine guns, revolvers, grenade-launchers, grenades, explosive substances and devices, bullets and cartridges, as well as different means of communication. 

All the ten band members, who were in the house during the search, have been detained.

A criminal proceeding has been launched. An inquest is under way.
