Haykakan Zhamanak: Russian currency hits an absolute anti-record

The paper writes that the Russian currency is said to have hit an absolute anti-record on Tuesday, its exchange rate climbing to 38 per 1 US Dollar. Such a devaluation is thought to be the lowest ever, says the paper, as the Ruble price never plummeted to such a low rate even during the 2008-2009 global economic recession. The paper says it will have a bad impact on Armenia, whose population is largely dependent on private money transfers from the Russian Federation. The paper notes that the declining Ruble is likely to seriously affect the population’s purchasability.
