Lezgis getting prepared for rebellion in north Azerbaijan

According to some foreign special services, it is not excluded that lezgis of Azerbaijan will rebel on the north of the country.

The Azerbaijanis who cut the head of the Armenian Yezidi soldier went from village to village showing it to the villagers and threatening that they will do the same with Yesidis, Kurds, Lezgis and Talishers if any of them helps Armenians.

This incident raised a wave of discontent  among the ethnic minorities of Azerbaijan. In the northern part of the country where Lezgis call Lezgistan they are thinking about restarting the activity of the separatist movement Sadval:

In 90s Sadval was acting in the territory of Dagestan, was calling to create independent Lezgistan in Azerbaijan’s north.

During Armenian-Azerbaijani war Sadval was quite active and committed several operations against Azerbaijan. Heydar Aliyev met with the leaders of the organization and promised not to mobilize lezgis in the war with Armenia and even give them autonomy. The first promise he kept but the second he did not and detained Sadval activists and sentenced them to imprisonment. Today lezgis are becoming active again and in case of speedy developments civil war may start in north of Azerbaijan.
